Pita (aka Pita Pat Cat)

I woke up Friday morning with only Kali Ma on my bed and called for Pita, but he didn’t come. Pita is ALWAYS on my bed when I’m sleeping. In fact, as soon as the alarm goes off, he’s purring in my face looking for affection.

I jumped up and went downstairs and there was Pita sprawled out on the floor. He gave me a meek meow, and I went over to him. He tried to get up and couldn’t. I tried to feed him some wet cat food and he wouldn’t touch it – he just kept meowing. So I FREAKED! Pita not eating (he’s such a little piggy).

I took him to the vet and they were very concerned. After doing some x-rays and tests they concluded that he probably has a heart condition. He is very pale (they tell from the gums), and has a low temperature and his heart rate is very, very slow. I got some medication for Pita and if he responds, all is well. If not…let’s just say, I’m praying he responds. Right now he can barely stand on his own and is having a difficult time breathing. Please say a little prayer for Pita. Kali Maa is staying close by and keeping an eye on Pita.

Pita has been doing much better, but still has labored breathing. I am very concerned that he is in pain. It seems as though the move from Cali to Colorado may be the culprit (no, it's not the food). He goes in for a checkup this Saturday, and I'll make a decision based on whether or not Pita is suffering.
